Frequently Asked Questions
What is new about Reality Games in 2025?
It has had a complete reboot since the last games in Autumn 2024. It is now gamified, more interactive, more supportive for those who want it to be. There’s also an added element of competition. And it’s now customisable so that you can incorporate a personal goal into the 29 day program. For example learning French, getting fit, or writing a 20 minute stand up routine are not part of the Reality Games instructions but anyone with such goals can use Reality Games to achieve them.
Is it only for artists or people who want to be more creative?
No, it’s for anyone! Well, anyone who is curious about so-called reality and who wants to see themselves and the world through different eyes for 29 days. It’s like taking a holiday from your habitual self and life without going anywhere. Any benefits in creativity are byproducts. It can also be for people who do have a particular goal, whether creative or not, such as living healthier, writing a book, people who want to do more of something in particular . Or less of something in particular.
How much time is it going to take realistically?
The minimum amount of time is 10 mins a day in total. Plus one day when you might want to spend a minimum of 15 extra mins preparing your weekly report to the group. But you can spend way more than if you like. You can also do nothing
I don’t like the sound of the weekly report to the group.
That’s great because you can learn how to do a weekly report to a group! The report must be less than 5 mins and I will help you to put it together with easy prompts and questions so it’s nothing to be put off by.
When does the experiment start?
It’s a rolling experiment with groups starting all the time whenever we have enough new people who can commit to the same time and the same 29 day block. Impatient people start immediately and go it alone and do the 29 days one-to-one with just me - which has its pros and cons. It’s more expensive (£245 instead of £145) and you’re not engaging with as many other people but instead you get me to yourself and obviously the 29 days are all about you.
How long are the weekly online meet-ups?
A maximum of 2 hours for the largest groups of five or six people. 30 mins is usually more than enough if you’re doing it one-to-one with Trevor.
Who will be in the groups?
Humans. From anywhere. Strangers! Who gradually become familiar and even friends by the end of it. If you want to do it with existing friends or colleagues then that’s also possible. I try to keep the groups small, always a maximum of 6. If you join on your own or with just one friend I’ll put you in a group with other humans from anywhere in the world who are also available at the same time and on the same day you are. If you want to do it one-on-one then I’ll be the only one in your group.
What if I miss a day or can’t make a weekly meetup?
You’ll have access to the video of the meet-up and you’ll receive the new instructions so it’s not the end of the world but you’ll lose points in the competition part of the program although there are ways to make those up on other days so it’s not a deal breaker.
Can I join from anywhere?
Yes, in theory. You just need to get online once a week at the same time as the others . So in a multinational group some people might have just woken up, others may be about to go to bed and some will be about get lunch depending on where in the world they’re based.
What is an example of an instruction or reality game?
I prefer to keep those a secret to create maximum impact but they are simple things that anyone will be capable of doing. Some instructions you may have heard of or even tried before, others are likely to be brand new. Some focus on mind, some on heart, some on the body. All are optional! It’s not an actual boot camp! I don’t know where you live. There are no The only way you can fail is by not turning up to the weekly meet-ups.
Why is it called an experiment and not a personal development or creativity workshop?
Each of us is unique and I want to highlight the Reality Games focus on personal discovery and exploration and the possibility of unique and unforeseen outcomes. The program is adaptable, flexible and open to feedback. It’s collaborative with participants encouraged to give and receive feedback from each other. Most of all it’s fun and playful, participants are encouraged to engage, take risks, and explore their creativity in a dynamic, emergent way that is open to any and all outcomes..
Can I take part in Reality Games again?
Yes, apparently it’s even better the second time!
I have a different question that’s not here, can I ask you about it?
